Licensing and seats
What is a seat?
A seat lets one computer run Britech at a time. A computer takes one of your company's seats when someone from your company signs in on it in Civil 3D, and gives it back when they sign out. Pricing
Is there an activation code?
No. You license Britech by signing in with your Britech Licensing account, so there is no code to type or keep.
How do I move a seat to another computer?
Type BRSignOut in Civil 3D on the old computer, then BRSignIn on the new one. If a computer is lost or broken, your company's owner frees its seat from the licence portal's dashboard; a seat no computer has used for 45 days goes back to the company by itself, and the owner is told. Getting started
What happens when every seat is in use?
Signing in on another computer is refused, with a message that says why. Free a seat on the licence portal, or ask your company's owner to, then sign in again. Or buy more seats.
The free trial
How long is the free trial?
30 days, with every command. It starts the first time a new account signs in on a computer. Create an account
Can I have a second trial?
No. Each account and each computer has one trial.
What happens when the trial ends?
Commands stop running on that computer until it signs in as part of a company that has seats. Your company's owner buys them on the licence portal. Pricing
Working offline
Does Britech need an internet connection?
Only to sign in. After that, the licence renews itself whenever Civil 3D starts with a connection, and a computer keeps working offline for up to 44 days after it last reached the licence server. Then it asks to connect once before commands run again.
Buying and paying
How are seats priced?
Per seat, for a term of months. All of a company's seats share one term, and seats added part way through are priced for the time left. Pricing
Who can buy seats?
Your company's owner: the person who created its account, or who joined as its owner. Everyone else signs in and uses the seats.
How do I pay?
Your company's owner places the order on the licence portal and we send an invoice by email. The seats are ready as soon as the payment arrives, and we email the owner to say so.
How do I renew?
The owner renews under Buy seats on the licence portal. A renewal starts when the current term ends, so you lose no days if you pay in time. We email the owner 30 and 7 days before the term ends. Buy seats
Installing and updating
Which versions of Civil 3D are supported?
Britech runs in Civil 3D 2022 to 2027; the Downloads page names the versions each release runs in. Downloads
Do I need administrator rights to install?
Only for the installer that installs for everyone on the computer. The installer for you alone needs none. Downloads
How do I update?
Britech checks for a new release once a day, downloads it, and installs it when Civil 3D closes. To check now, type BRCheckForUpdates.
How do I uninstall?
Type BRSignOut first, so the computer gives its seat back. Then remove Britech in Windows Settings, under Apps.
Accounts and support
I forgot my password.
Choose "Forgot your password?" on the licence portal's sign-in page. We email you a link to choose a new one; it works once, for 1 hour. Reset your password
Can I protect my account with a second step?
Yes. On the licence portal, under Account, turn on two-step sign-in. Every sign-in, on the portal and in the add-in, then also asks for a code from an authenticator app on your phone.
